Antigen: human ACAT-1 amino acids 6-23 (KMSLRNRLSKSRENPEED) · Host: rabbit · Application(s): WB · Acyl-coenzyme A: cholesterol acyltransferase-1 (ACAT-1) catalyzes the formation of cholesterol esters from cholesterol and long chain fatty acyl-coenzyme A, and may play a role in the development of atherosclerosis.^1,2 ACAT-1 is ubiquitously expressed, with highest levels observed in sebaceous glands, steroidogenic tissues, and macrophages.^3,4,5 Human ACAT-1 has 550 amino acids and an estimated molecular weight of 65 kDa.⁵ Cayman’s affinity-purified antibody recognizes a 50 kDa band in most cultured cell lines as reported in the literature.^6,7,4 In addition, the antibody reacts with a native form of ACAT-1 at about 65 kDa in liver tissues. Cayman Chemical’s affinity-purified ACAT-1 polyclonal antibody can be used for western blot analysis of ACAT-1 from samples of human, murine, rat, and porcine origin. Other applications for use of this antibody have not yet been tested.
