10009624  COX-2 (human) Western Ready Control

Cyclooxygenase-2; Prostaglandin H Synthase 2

Chemical structure definitions are available for many Cayman products. See Chemical Structure Database for details.

Application(s): positive control for WB · Source: human recombinant N-terminal His-tagged protein expressed in Sf21 cells · Mr: 73 kDa (His-tagged), 70 kDa (native) · Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) catalyzes the first step in the biosynthesis of PGs, thromboxanes, and prostacyclins: the conversion of arachidonic acid to PGH2. Recent discoveries of the induction of the COX expression by a variety of stimuli such as phorbol esters, lipopolysaccharides, and cytokines led to the hypothesis that the inducible form of COX, COX-2, is responsible for the biosynthesis of prostaglandins under acute inflammatory conditions. 1 Thus, COX-2 has become the focus of attention for nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) development.
