Description

Mammalian sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) is a nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide-dependent histone deacetylase (HDAC) with roles in energy metabolism and inflammation. EX-527 is a cell-permeable, selective inhibitor of SIRT1 (IC50 = 98 nM).1 It inhibits other SIRTs only at much higher concentrations and has no effect on other HDACs. EX-527 has been used to investigate the relationship between SIRT1-mediated deacetylation of p53, p53 activity, and cell survival following DNA damage.2
