Cytotrienin A is an anti-tumor agent isolated from Steptomyces species. It induces apoptosis in human promyelocytic leukemia HL-60 cells within four hours of treatment at a concentration of 100 ng/ml via activation of reactive oxygen species, caspase-3, and p36 myelin basic protein kinase, as well as through a separate pathway via activation of JNK.1,2
