PMMA (hydrochloride) is a stimulant and psychedelic drug that is a structural analog of the amphetamine class serotonergic drug para-methoxyamphetamine (PMA).1 In drug discrimination studies using rats, 3,4-methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDMA) and PMMA produce similar, though not identical, discriminative stimulus effects.2 PMMA has been found as a substitute in tablets and capsules of the MDMA sold as "ecstasy" and was linked to a number of overdose deaths in users who believed they were consuming recreational doses of MDMA .3 This product is intended for research and forensic applications.
