Naturally occurring phytochemicals such as turmeric (curcumin) have been found to inhibit the growth of tumor cells. ACS-J9 is an analog of curcumin obtained by methylation of both free phenolic groups in the parent compound. A 30-fold increase in potency was observed in the growth suppression of HCT116 tumor cells following this modification. 1
