Lipid Droplet Biology

Lab Wall Posters

Lipid droplets function as triglyceride and cholesterol ester storage compartments that play critical roles in lipid metabolism. They also have roles in storing histones, protecting unfolded proteins, modulating the bioavailability of drugs, and serving as a platform for viral assembly and bacteria replication. This wall poster depicts the biological events that lead to the formation of lipid droplets, the key proteins involved in their functioning, and the biochemical pathways of lipid storage and lipolysis. Dr. James Olzmann from the University of California, Berkeley was integral to the compilation of this information.
