CABRI Announces Undergraduate Research Traineeship Awardees

Cayman joins the Cayman Biomedical Research Institute (CABRI) in congratulating six undergraduate students who have been awarded research traineeships by CABRI. The awards are given to talented undergraduate researchers that are pursuing a research project of their own under the guidance of a faculty mentor.
"My research experience at Michigan has been the most formative part of my academic experience, and this award will ensure that I can continue my research in the Traynor Lab this year," said Hannah Stewart, CABRI undergraduate research traineeship awardee. "I plan to pursue a Ph.D., and research has exposed me to many fields I would've otherwise not learned about in the classroom. I am thrilled to continue my research journey with the help of the CABRI Undergraduate Fellowship."
This year, CABRI awarded undergraduate research traineeships to students representing three academic institutions in the United States totaling $25,000. Each awardee will receive a stipend to be used for academic expenses.
"I'm so grateful for this award and excited to be involved in such amazing research! I hope to keep involving myself in science and its amazing community going forward," said Ryan Hong, CABRI undergraduate research traineeship awardee.
Topics of the winning awards address a broad range of research topics, including cancer biology, cell metabolism, Alzheimer's disease, and opioid use disorder.

Undergraduate fellowships are awarded by CABRI on a competitive basis each year to students who have been offered an unpaid research position.
CABRI is a nonprofit organization that supports research on rare illnesses and orphan diseases that are often neglected by the corporate pharmaceutical industry and actively pursues new developments that will treat these diseases.
