    Product Description

Tanomastat is an inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2), MMP-3, and MMP-9 (Kis = 11, 143, and 301 nM, respectively).1 It is selective for MMP-2, -3, and -9 over MMP-1 and MMP-13 (Kis = 5,000 and 1,470 nM, respectively). Tanomastat (15 µM) inhibits VEGF- and FGF-induced tubule formation in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs).2 It reduces tumor growth and the number of pulmonary metastases in an MDA-MB-435 orthotopic mouse model of breast cancer when administered at a dose of 100 mg/kg. Tanomastat (50 mg/kg) decreases disease severity in a rat model of adjuvant-induced arthritis.3
