    6-Bromo-2-oxindole is a secondary metabolite that has been isolated from the sea squirt (D. skoogi).1 It is cytotoxic to MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells with an IC50 value of 74.41 µM. 6-Bromo-2-oxindole has been used in the synthesis of 1,3-disubstituted 2-oxindoles and indolin-2-one p38α inhibitors, which have anti-inflammatory activity.2,3
