10-Deacetylbaccatin III is an inhibitor of microtubule assembly (IC50s = 23 and 0.9 µM for porcine brain and Physaram microtubules, respectively) found in T. baccata extracts.1 It is a precursor in the semisynthetic synthesis of paclitaxel (Item No. 10461) and other semisynthetic toxoids.2 10-Deacetylbaccatin III also selectively inhibits growth of L. donovani intracellular amastigotes within J774 murine macrophages (IC50 = 70 nM), while having no effect on macrophage morphology.3
