    Product Description

The IFN-α is one of the member of the type I interferons (IFNs) family and it is mainly involved in innate immunity. IFN-α 1 is secreted by immune (lymphocytes, NK cells, B cells, T cells, and macrophages) and non-immune cells (fibroblasts, endothelial cells, osteoblasts, and others) in answer to a viral infection. The main function of the IFN-α 1 is to alert the organism in case of viral infection by detection of abnormal double stranded DNA, but also to inhibit virus multiplication by action on the translation in infected cells. An abnormal production of IFN-α 1 induces immune dysfunction such as autoimmune diseases (systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis) or mediates tissue inflammation.
