C17 3'-sulfo Galactosylceramide is a member of the sulfatide class of glycolipids. C17 3'-sulfo Galactosylceramide has been used as an internal standard for the quantification of sulfatides in urine and blood samples from patients with metachromatic leukodystrophy, a disorder characterized by arylsulfatase A deficiency, leading to sulfatide accumulation.1,2 As this product is derived from a natural source, there may be variations in the sphingoid backbone.
