Monosialogangliosides are membrane sphingolipids that contain one sialic acid residue.1 They have roles in cell proliferation, differentiation, and adhesion, as well as neuronal plasticity and repair.1,2,3 Monosialogangliosides accumulate in a variety of lysosomal storage disorders including Sandhoff, Tay-Sachs, and Niemann-Pick diseases.4,5 Monosialoganglioside Mixture contains the monosialogangliosides GM1 (Item No. 31548), GM2 (Item No. 31710), and GM3 (Item No. 31711) and is intended for use as a reference standard for the detection of these monosialogangliosides in various sample types by TLC or LC-MS. This mixture is supplied in an amber ampule in which the headspace has been purged with argon to prevent lipid oxidation. [Matreya, LLC. Catalog No. 1508]
