    Product Description

Amyloid-β (1-40) (Aβ40) peptide is a 40-amino acid protein fragment of Aβ42 (Item No. 20574), a neurotoxic peptide found in amyloid plaques in postmortem cerebral cortex from patients with Alzheimer's disease.1,2 Aβ40 is more abundant, less neurotoxic, and does not form oligomers as easily as Aβ42.3,4 Citrullinated Aβ40 is a modified form of Aβ40 (Item No. 21617) that is citrullinated at arginine 5.5 It exhibits increased transient formation of soluble oligomers and insoluble aggregates composed of distorted parallel β-sheets compared with unmodified Aβ40, which forms fibrils composed of parallel β-sheets.
