Penicolinate B is a fungal metabolite originally isolated from Penicillium that has diverse biological activities.1 It is active against M. tuberculosis (MIC = 25 µg/ml), as well as P. falciparum, B. cereus, and C. albicans (IC50s = 1.4, 25, and 3.67 µg/ml, respectively). Penicolinate B is cytotoxic to MCF-7, KB, NCI H187, and Vero cells (IC50s = 6.21, 17.78, 0.307, and 2.79 µg/ml, respectively).
