    Apronal is a muscle relaxant.1 It prolongs methylhexabital-induced sleep and enhances morphine-induced analgesia in dogs, mice, and rats. Apronal has been used to induce experimental porphyria in rabbits.2 Formulations containing apronal have previously been used as daytime sedatives.
