CP 93,129 is an agonist of the serotonin (5-HT) receptor subtype 5-HT1B.1 It selectively binds 5-HT1B over 5-HT1A, 5-HT1C, 5-HT1D, and 5-HT2 receptors (Kis = 0.0081, 1.5, 2.9, 1.1, and 7.2 µM, respectively). CP 93,129 (5.4 µM) inhibits potassium-induced GABA release from rat globus pallidus slices.2 It reverses akinesia in a rat model of Parkinson’s disease induced by reserpine (Item No. 16474) when administered intrapallidally at doses of 110 and 220 nmol/animal. CP 93,129 reduces food intake in rats when infused into the pons parabrachial nucleus or the paraventricular nucleus (PVN) of the hypothalamus (ED50s = 1 and 50 nmol/animal, respectively).3 It also reduces the frequency of pursuits, tail rattles, threats, and attack bites in a resident-intruder test in mice.4
