GB1107 is an inhibitor of galectin-3 (Gal-3; IC50 = 8 µM).1 It prevents increases in Gal-3 levels induced by glycyl-L-phenylalanine 2-naphthylamide (GPN) in JIMT-1 breast cancer cells (IC50 = 36 nM). GB1107 (25 µM) induces apoptosis, induces cell cycle arrest at the G1 phase, and decreases the levels of aggrecan, chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 3 (Ccl3), and matrix metalloproteinase-3 (Mmp-3) in primary rat cartilage end plate cells.2 In vivo, GB1107 (0.1 mg/kg per day) increases survival and decreases pulmonary fibrosis but also decreases body weight in a mouse model of pulmonary fibrosis induced by bleomycin (Item No. 13877).3
