DOWNLOAD NOWAndrosin is a phenol glucoside that has been found in P. kurroa and has diverse biological activities.1,2,3 It is active against the bacteria S. aureus, S. epidermidis, P. aeruginosa, E. cloacae, K. pneumoniae, and E. coli (MICs = 0.6, 0.68, 0.97, 0.85, 1, and 1.08 mg/ml, respectively) and the fungi C. albicans, C. tropicalis, and C. glabrata (MICs = 1.85, 1.7, and 1.65 mg/ml, respectively).3 Androsin (10 mg/kg) inhibits bronchial obstruction in a guinea pig model of asthma induced by ovalbumin or platelet-activating factor (PAF).2
