2”-O-Rhamnosylicariside II (2”-O-Rhys II) is a flavonoid glycoside that has been found in Epimedium and has hepatotoxic activity.1,2 It increases aspartate aminotransferase (AST), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels, as well as decreases glutathione (GSH) levels in Hl 7702 cells when used at a concentration of 66 µg/ml. 2’-O-Rhys II (100 µM) induces 100% mortality in zebrafish larvae.2 It also induces hepatocellular vacuolization and degeneration in adult zebrafish when used at a concentration of 25 µM.
