    UoS 12258 is a positive allosteric modulator of AMPA receptors.1 It potentiates glutamate-induced currents in HEK293 cells expressing human ionotropic glutamate receptor 2 (GluR2) homomeric AMPA receptors (EC50 = 2.51 µM), as well as HEK293 cells expressing GluR1, GluR3, or GluR4 homomeric AMPA receptors. UoS 12258 (0.3 and 1 mg/kg) increases novel object exploration in a novel object recognition test in rats. It also reduces escape latencies in the Morris water maze in aged rats.
