DOWNLOAD NOWCathelicidin-2 (CATH-2) (128-153) is a synthetic antimicrobial peptide that corresponds to amino acids 128-153 of chicken CATH-2.1 It is active against E. coli, S. aureus, S. enteritidis, and B. globigii in a concentration-dependent manner. CATH-2 (128-153) (40 µM) induces hemolysis of isolated chicken erythrocytes but is not cytotoxic to isolated human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). It induces production of chemokine (C-C-motif) ligand 2 (CCL2) and inhibits LPS-induced production of TNF-α, IL-6, IL-8, and IL-10 in isolated human PBMCs.
