CD11a, also known as integrin αL (ITGAL), is a protein subunit of the heterodimeric leukocyte integrin αLβ2.1 It is composed of an extracellular domain that contains an I-domain and a metal-binding domain, which are important for binding, a transmembrane region, and a short cytoplasmic tail.2 CD11a is expressed ubiquitously on the surface of leukocytes as a component of αLβ2, which binds to intracellular adhesion molecule 1-5 (ICAM-1-5), junctional adhesion molecule A (JAM-A), and endothelial cell-specific molecule 1 (ESM-1) to facilitate T cell adhesion and migration during extravasation into the lymph nodes and tissue.3 SNPs in ITGAL are associated with a reduced susceptibility to Behҫet’s disease, a systemic inflammatory disease.4 Cayman’s ITGAL/CD11a Chimeric Monoclonal Antibody (Clone hu1124 (Efalizumab)) was recombinantly generated based on the sequence of the original humanized anti-CD11a antibody hu1124.5 It can be used for flow cytometry (FC).
