    NS 13001 is a positive allosteric modulator for small-conductance calcium-activated potassium channel 2 (KCa2.2/SK2) and KCa2.3/SK3.1 It increases calcium-induced currents in an inside-out patch clamp assay using HEK293 cells expressing human KCa2.2/SK2 or KCa2.3/SK3 (EC50s = 1.8 and 0.14 µM, respectively). Oral administration of NS 13001 (30 mg/kg per day) improves sensorimotor deficits in the beam walk test and increases the latency to fall in the rotarod test in a SCA2-58Q transgenic mouse model of neuromuscular degeneration.
