    (−)-Eburnamonine is an indole alkaloid that has been found in K. jasminiflora and has vasodilator and neuroprotective activities.1,2,3 It increases cerebral blood flow and capillary circulation in anesthetized dogs when administered at a dose of 2.5 mg/kg.3 (−)-Eburnamonine (20 mg/kg) prevents scopolamine-induced amnesia in a passive avoidance test in mice.2 It enhances acquisition of the conditioned avoidance response induced by hypobaric hypoxia in rats when administered at a dose of 20 mg/kg. (−)-Eburnamonine (0.25 mg/kg per minute) increases the onset time to hypoxia-induced brain death in rats.3 It increases survival time and inhibits decreases in body temperature induced by hypobaric hypoxia in rats when administered at a dose of 45 mg/kg.
