Hericerin is a polyketide synthase-derived isoindolinone that has been found in H. erinaceus and has diverse biological activities.1,2,3 It inhibits α-glucosidase (IC50 = 5.3 µM) and is cytotoxic to A549 lung and HeLa cervical cancer cells (IC50s = 49 and 40.5 µM, respectively).2 Hericerin induces neurite outgrowth in Neuro2a neuroblastoma cells and increases nerve growth factor (NGF) production in C6 glioma cells when used at concentrations of 25 and 50 µM, respectively.3
