    Product Description

Polymyxin B2 is an antibiotic and a major constituent of the cationic lipopeptide antibiotic polymyxin B (Item No. 14157) originally isolated from B. polymyxa.1 It is active against P. aeruginosa, A. baumannii, K. pneumoniae, and E. cloacae strains (MICs = 1-2, 0.5-1, 0.25-0.5, and 0.25-1 µg/ml, respectively). In vivo, polymyxin B2 (4 mg/kg) reduces the number of blood colony-forming units (CFUs) in a mouse model of P. aeruginosa blood infection.
