Butin is a flavanone that has been found in B. monosperma and has diverse biological activities.1,2,3 It induces melanogenesis in B16/F10 melanoma cells when used at a concentration of 1 µM.1 Butin (1-4 µg/ml) decreases DNA damage induced by the actin polymerization inhibitor cytochalasin B (Item No. 11328) in isolated human peripheral blood lymphocytes in a cytokinesis-block micronucleus (CBMN) assay.2 In vivo, butin (5-20 mg/animal) inhibits implantation and decreases the number of pups when administered to pregnant rats.3 It increases uterine weight in ovariectomized rats when administered at a dose of 0.5 mg/animal.
