DOWNLOAD NOWMRSA antibiotic 1 is an antibiotic.1 It is active against S. aureus, methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA), and B. subtilis (MICs = 2, 4, and 2 µg/ml, respectively) without inducing cytotoxicity in HepG2, HSkMC, or IMR-90 cells at 10 µM. MRSA antibiotic 1 is also active against 40 antibiotic-resistant clinical isolates (median MICs = 2-16 µg/ml). It decreases MRSA viral titers in the skin in a neutropenic mouse wound infection model when applied topically at 1% (w/w), as well as reduces MRSA viral titers in the thigh in a neutropenic mouse thigh infection model when administered intraperitoneally at 80 mg/kg.
