    Product Description

Laninamivir octanoate is an inhibitor of influenza neuraminidases and a prodrug form of laninamivir.1 It selectively inhibits the neuraminidases from influenza A H1N1, H2N2, and H3N2 strains (mean IC50s = 822, 128, and 114 nM, respectively) over the neuraminidases from influenza B Victoria and Yamagata strains (mean IC50s = >10,000 nM for both). Intranasal administration of laninamivir octanoate (0.95 µg/kg) increases survival in a mouse model of lethal influenza H1N1 infection. Formulations containing laninamivir octanoate have been used in the prevention of influenza.
