    Product Description

Catestatin is a peptide derivative of chromogranin A and an inhibitor of norepinephrine release.1 It inhibits nicotine-induced secretion of norepinephrine and nicotine-induced sodium intake in PC12 rat adrenal medulla cells (IC50s = ~0.2 and ~0.25 µM, respectively). Catestatin decreases mean arterial blood pressure and current-induced pressor response and increases plasma levels of epinephrine and histamine in pithed rats.2
