    Product Description

Spironolactone-d3 is intended for use as an internal standard for the quantification of spironolactone by GC- or LC-MS. Spironolactone is a steroidal mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist (IC50 = 24 nM) and a diuretic.1 It is selective for the mineralocorticoid receptor over the glucocorticoid receptor (IC50 = 2,410 nM) but also binds to the androgen receptor and progesterone receptor (IC50s = 77 and 743 nM, respectively). In vivo, spironolactone (37.5 mg/kg per day) administered in combination with lisinopril preserves ejection fraction in mice and reduces myocardial fibrosis in a mouse model of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).2 Formulations containing spironolactone have been used in the treatment of hypertension and heart failure.

WARNING This product is not for human or veterinary use.
