VU29 is a positive allosteric modulator (PAM) of metabotropic glutamate receptor 5 (mGluR5; Ki = 250 nM).1 It potentiates glutamate-induced calcium flux in primary rat cortical astrocytes (EC50 = 10.7 nM). VU29 (30 mg/kg) prevents ethanol-induced memory impairments in the novel object recognition test in rats.2 It also reverses ethanol-induced conditioned place preference in rats when administered at a dose of 10 mg/kg for ten days, an effect that can be reversed by MTEP (Item No. 14961) or MK-801.3
