    Deserpidine is an alkaloid that has been found in R. canescens and a derivative of reserpine (Item No. 16474) that has diverse biological activities.1,2 Deserpidine (5 mg/kg) induces cardiac norepinephrine depletion and sedation in mice.1 It decreases blood pressure in dogs when administered at a dose of 0.5 mg/kg.2 Deserpidine also decreases heart rate and body temperature and induces miosis and diarrhea in rabbits and induces emesis in pigeons.
