4-oxo Decanoic acid (4-ODA) is a sex pheromone produced by virgin female Asian hornets (V. velutina).1 It is produced at a 0.78 ratio of 4-oxo octanoic acid to 4-ODA. 4-ODA, alone or in the natural ratio with 4-oxo octanoic acid, elicits antennal responses from male Asian hornets in bioassays.
