    Methyl diaminobenzene-BODIPY is a turn-on fluorescent probe for the detection of methylglyoxal.1 It displays absorbance/emission maxima of 496/530 nm, respectively, in DMSO and its fluorescence intensity increases in the presence of methylglyoxal. Methyl diaminobenzene-BODIPY is selective for methylglyoxal over glyoxal, glucosone, pyruvate, 1-phenyl-1,2-propanedione, phenylglyoxal, nitric oxide (NO) donors, and hydrogen peroxide. It has been used to quantify methylglyoxal levels in living cells and plasma.
