Brittonin A is a methoxylated bibenzyl that has been found in the liverwort F. inouei and has anticancer activity.1 It is cytotoxic to KB and vincristine-resistant KB/VCR cells (IC50s = 42.1 and 33.7 µM, respectively), as well as K562 and adriamycin-resistant K562/A02 cells (IC50s = 49.6 and 30.9 µM, respectively). Brittonin A (5 µM) increases vincristine-induced cell death in KB/VCR cells and adriamycin-induced cell death in K562/A02 cells.
