    Product Description

Trifarotene is a retinoic acid receptor γ (RARγ) agonist.1 It is selective for RARγ over RARα and RARβ in reporter assays using HeLa cells expressing chimeric RARγ, RARα, or RARβ receptors (EC50s = 7.7, 498, and 125 nM, respectively) and is inactive at the retinoid X receptor (RXR). Topical application of trifarotene (0.1% w/w) reduces ear edema induced by 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-1,3-acetate (TPA; Item No. 10008014) in a mouse model of epidermal inflammation. Formulations containing trifarotene have been used in the treatment of acne vulgaris.
