KC 12291 is an inhibitor of voltage-gated sodium channels.1 It reduces peak sodium currents by approximately 60% in isolated rat ventricular cardiomyocytes when used at a concentration of 1 µM. KC 12291 inhibits veratridine or lysophosphatidylcholine-induced diastolic contracture in isolated guinea pig atria (IC50s = 0.55 and 0.79 µM, respectively). In vivo, KC 12291 (0.16 and 0.63 mg/kg) inhibits ST segment elevation in anesthetized rabbits.
