    Product Description

3-O-methyl Tolcapone is a stabilizer of transthyretin (TTR) and a metabolite of tolcapone (Item No. 20768).1 Unlike tolcapone, 3-O-methyl tolcapone does not inhibit catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) and is not cytotoxic to SH-SY5Y or HepG2 cells (EC50s = 226.3 and 262.3 µM, respectively).1,2 3-O-methyl Tolcapone (1 and 10 µM) stabilizes TTR in isolated human plasma and binds to TTR in a cell-free assay (Kd = 33 nM).2
