    Product Description

    GSK1733953A is an inhibitor of the demethylmenaquinone methyltransferase MenG (IC50 = 2.6 µM for the M. smegmatis enzyme), an enzyme involved in menaquinone biosynthesis and respiration in bacteria.1 It inhibits oxygen consumption and ATP synthesis in M. tuberculosis, which can be reversed by menaquinone 4 (MK-4; Item No. 18423).2 GSK1733953A is active against drug-sensitive and -resistant strains of M. tuberculosis and M. bovis (MIC90s = 1.2-20 µg/ml), as well as non-replicating M. tuberculosis.
