    Product Description

Cortisol is a glucocorticoid stress hormone produced by the adrenal cortex and released in a circadian rhythm that peaks in the early morning.1,2 Because cortisol levels increase during physiological and psychological stress, cortisol is widely used as a biomarker of hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis activity.2,3 Quantification of cortisol in biological samples is commonly performed using cortisol ELISA kits for applications in stress physiology, endocrinology, metabolism, and behavioral research.

Cayman’s Cortisol ELISA Kit (Express) is a competitive assay that can be used for the quantification of cortisol in plasma, serum, urine, saliva, feces, hair, tissue, and cell culture supernatant. The assay has a range of 39.1-5,000 pg/ml, with an average sensitivity (80% B/B0) of 80 pg/ml and a lower limit of detection (LLOD) of 20 pg/ml.

Cortisol is identical across species that produce it; therefore, this assay can be used with samples from multiple species, including humans and other mammals.

Needed but not supplied: Please download the kit booklet to verify if UltraPure Water (Milli-Q or equivalent) or any other components are needed for this assay.
