Press Release from 2026-11-03
ANN ARBOR, MI, NOVEMBER 03, 2026—Cayman Chemical filed a Drug Master File (DMF) for psilocybin with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, giving pharmaceutical developers access to regulatory documentation to support the advancement of psilocybin-based development programs.
The filing represents the latest milestone in Cayman Chemical’s ongoing investment in psychedelic active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and regulatory support capabilities. In addition to the DMF submission, the company has completed validation of its analytical methods for psilocybin and has material available to support qualified customer programs.
As interest in psychedelic therapeutics continues to grow, developers are navigating increasingly complex requirements related to manufacturing, characterization, and regulatory documentation. The availability of a psilocybin DMF can help streamline regulatory submissions by allowing sponsors to reference chemistry, manufacturing, and controls (CMC) information directly through the established FDA pathway with a Letter of Authorization (LOA).
“For many organizations, securing a reliable API supplier is only one piece of the development journey,” said Shannon Stacey, Vice President of GMP Operations at Cayman Chemical. “Sponsors also need access to robust quality systems, thorough analytical characterization, and regulatory documentation that can support their programs as they move forward. Filing our psilocybin DMF is an extension of Cayman’s commitment to providing that level of support.”
Cayman’s GMP Division has spent years building expertise in the manufacture and supply of psychedelic APIs, including psilocybin, psilocin, N,N-DMT, and other compounds being evaluated across a range of research areas. The company’s approach combines GMP manufacturing, analytical development, quality oversight, and regulatory support to help customers advance their programs from early development through later-stage clinical activities.
“Interest in this space has matured considerably over the last several years,” Stacey highlighted. “Researchers and developers are asking highly sophisticated questions about supply chain reliability, analytical methods, regulatory strategy, and long-term scalability. Our goal is to be a partner that can help address those needs alongside our ability to provide the material itself.”
The DMF filing reflects Cayman Chemical’s broader commitment to supporting emerging therapeutic fields through high-quality manufacturing and scientific expertise. The company’s GMP operations support customers worldwide with APIs, excipients, ancillary materials, analytical testing services, and regulatory documentation intended to facilitate pharmaceutical development efforts.
“As the field continues to mature, researchers need partners that can support both the science and the practical realities of development,” Stacey said. “We view this DMF as an investment in that future and in the customers working to advance it.”
