Comprehensive Analytical Standards Panels for the Detection of Drugs of Abuse

Article from 2023-01-17

Updated November 2025

The identification of traditional and emerging drugs of abuse is critically dependent on the availability of authentic reference standards. To help improve the access of analytical standards to laboratories performing comprehensive drug screening, Cayman now offers nine cost-effective Analytical Standards Panels that collectively provide coverage of 1,274 traditional and emerging drugs of abuse.

This expanded collection of Analytical Standards Panels will help get these critically needed standards into more labs and assist in the rapid identification of emerging drug trends, the resolution of forensic and clinical toxicology casework, and the improvement of drug surveillance efforts.

Key Features of Cayman's Analytical Standards Panels

Large Coverage

Cayman's Analytical Standards Panels are preconfigured to provide comprehensive coverage across drug classes, including commonly encountered and rare or emerging drugs of abuse, and are ideal for rapid drug screening by mass spectrometry or building in-house mass spectral libraries.

Cost Effective

Analytes are supplied at a cost-effective 100 µg per vial, which is smaller than our standard sizes, yet provides sufficient material for screening purposes. Single analytes are supplied in individual vials that are alphanumerically indexed for easy identification.

Convenient Format

The Analytical Standards Panels are assembled in a 96-well Matrix™ tube rack format with SepraSeal® caps, which saves valuable freezer storage space and offers easy needle entry through the cap to minimize analyte loss. This format is flexible; it is compatible with robotic liquid handling systems procedures and well-plate autosamplers and adaptable to manual liquid handling procedures and individual instrument configuration.

Flexible

The analytes in the Synthetic Cannabinoid Analytical Panels are pre-formulated in solution. In all other panels, the analytes are supplied neat to give flexibility in the types of in-house instrumentation libraries that can be built. Reconstitution in methanol has been validated for all analytes, and each vial contains a small amount of glycerol to aid compound recovery. Individual analytes are available for purchase in our standard quantities if needed.

Quality Assurance

The Analytical Standards Panels retain the same format as the Fentanyl Analog Screening (FAS) Kits and deliver the same quality and reliability that our customers expect and trust in all aspects of our reference standard production.
