OBESITY RESEARCH SOLUTIONSAngiopoietin-like 3 (ANGPTL3) is an angiopoietin-related protein involved in lipid metabolism.1,2 It is composed of a signal peptide, coiled-coil domain, linker region, and C-terminal fibrinogen-like domain.2,3 ANGPTL3 is expressed in adult liver and during embryonic development.3 It inhibits the activity of lipoprotein lipase and endothelial lipase, which increases plasma triglycerides and HDL-cholesterol (HDL-C) levels.4,5,6 Loss-of-function mutations in ANGPTL3 are associated with decreased risk of coronary artery disease, coronary atherosclerosis, or myocardial infarction.6 Formulations containing monoclonal antibodies targeting ANGPTL3 have been used in the treatment of homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. Cayman’s ANGPTL3 (human) Monoclonal Antibody (Clone Kairos-37) can be used for ELISA and Western blot (WB) applications. The antibody recognizes ANGPTL3 at approximately 68 kDa and a cleaved band of approximately 35 kDa from human samples.
