Juniperonic acid is an ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid that has been found in plant oils, including those of J. communis.1 Juniperonic acid can be biosynthesized from α-linolenic acid (Item Nos. 90210 | 21910) in C. elegans and reverses growth reductions and lifespan increases in a C. elegans mutant lacking Δ6-desaturase that cannot biosynthesize certain fatty acids, such as arachidonic acid (Item Nos. 90010 | 90010.1 | 10006607) and ω-3 arachidonic acid (Item No. 90011).2 It reduces bombesin-induced proliferation of 3T3-Swiss mouse fibroblasts when used at a concentration of 50 µM.3
