ENVIRONMENTAL TOXICOLOGY TOOLS & SERVICESCarbolactone is a fungal metabolite originally isolated from Sporormiella australis that has fungicidal and herbicidal activities.1 It is active against the phytopathogenic fungi U. violacea and E. repens, but not the bacteria B. megaterium or E. coli, when used at concentrations of 6.5, 65, and 650 µg/ml in an agar diffusion assay.
