5-Iodouridine is a derivative of the pyrimidine nucleoside uridine (Item No. 20300). It inhibits dihydroorotase (Ki = 340 µM for the rat enzyme).1 5-Iodouridine sensitizes Don Chinese hamster lung cells to irradiation in a concentration-dependent manner.2 It has been used in the synthesis of compounds with antiviral and anticancer activities.3
