    4-Methoxyphenyl-β-D-glucopyranoside is an aryl glycoside that has been found in Pterospermum heterophyllum roots and has ice recrystallization inhibitory activity.1,2 It reduces mean grain size in a cell-free ice recrystallization assay and increases the percentage of intact isolated red blood cells (RBCs) in PBS post-freeze-thaw when used at a concentration of 100 mM.2 4-Methoxyphenyl-β-D-glucopyranoside has also been used as an intermediate in the synthesis of glucan oligosaccharides.3
